ULW 2.0 X USM

1. Calvin Quek Wei Qian is a 4th year dental student. He has always been passionate about basketball. He plays basketball every day as there are not many modes of entertainment in Kelantan. He has won in numerous matches such as interbatch competitions and Intervarsity games. Other than that, he also represented USM to compete in Indonesia! His dream came true he won a gold medal at MASUM. Every evening, after classes or clinics, he would go to the basketball court for training.

In 2018, Calvin Quek was elected as the student representative (MPP) for his dental school. He managed to lead the USM Dental contingent to an overall champion in the NDIVG 2018 in UiTM. As the sports representative, he worked with the campus management and helped with the improvement of the management of athletes, as well as the renovation of several sports facilities for the students. He also helped organize the flood evacuation project during the monsoon season of 2017.

2. Galvin Sim Siang Lin is a an avid student researcher. He was mentored by USM's renowned endodontist Dr. Nik Rozainah Nik Abdul Ghani. He was the second runner up in USM's 15th Student Scientific Conference. Also, he won first place in Asia Pacific Dental Students’ Association's (APDSA) scientific research competition in 2018 and was the runner up in the 5th Airlangga Dentistry Scientific Meeting International Research Competition in Indonesia.

On top of this, he published his elective research paper in SCOPUS Index Journal and he is currently carrying out 3 independent research works related to Endodontics in USM.

3. Muhamad Izzat bin Mohd. Hashim is a cheerful village boy who appears to be serious. He is frequently involved in university events as a committee member. He was one of the orientation officers (Pembimbing Program Siswa Lestari, PPSL) in USM who guided freshmen throughout their orientation week. As a PPSL, he had been able to brush up his leadership skills. Due to his capability as a leader, he was appointed the assistant leader (Timbalan Penghulu) of the PPSL team. In addition to that, he is currently the president of Sekretariat Sukarelawan and president of Persatuan Sains Pergigian USM.

Izzat also loves to participate in volunteering and sports activities. In 2017, he led the USM team on the post-flood mission in Rantau Panjang and Tumpat, Kelantan. He also led the Sukarelawan Pasca Banjir team to help with the opening of a temporary evacuation centre in USM. In November 2018, he led an oral health education program in Semporna Sabah.

4. Lo Szi You is a 5th year dental student. He has been able to join many activities that shaped and moulded him, such as storytelling, debates and plays. He considered himself lucky to be given the opportunity to join scientific conferences in and out of the country. He came first in the scientific research competition at the 10th NDSSC and won the Excellent Award in the 3rd China ASEAN Excellent Young Dental Student Forum 2018. To him, it is truly humbling to be able to represent his university and make everyone proud.
