International Medical University or more commonly known as IMU is Malaysia’s first and most established private medical and healthcare university with over 25 years of dedicated focus in healthcare education. IMU achieved a Tier-5 rating in the SETARA ratings of Malaysian Universities and University-Colleges awarded by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). 1. IMU School of Dentistry celebrates its 10th year anniversary this year! The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme was launched in 2008 with students on the local programme and twinning programmes with partner dental schools abroad, under the Founding Dean, Prof Toh Chooi Gait.

2. Our school believes in a clinical approach in our teaching and hence, we provide early clinical exposure to the students, starting from Semester 1 onwards in our state-of-the-art Dental Simulation Labs and Oral Health Centre to better prepare our students for a career as a dentist.

3. For students who are keen on studying abroad, IMU offers twinning programmes which allow the students to complete 2-2½ years of their studies at any one of our affiliated partner universities, namely University of Otago, University of Adelaide, University of Dundee, University of Glasgow and University of Dalhousie.

4. IMU students are taught by highly qualified and dedicated lecturers with over 10 years of academic experience. A wide variety of teaching-learning approaches are employed which focuses on student based learning in order to instill lifelong learning in our students.

5. In October 2016, the Postgraduate Diploma in Implant Dentistry was launched, enrolling 10 working dentists in its first cohort. This is the first and only MQA approved Postgraduate Diploma in Implant Dentistry in Malaysia.

6. In September 2017, the school held its first conference, focusing on clinical dentistry and dental education, under the chair of Prof Seow Liang Lin and Associate Professor Hanan Omar. World renowned speakers have been invited to share their knowledge in their respective fields of dentistry, namely Prof Richard Ibbetson, Prof St John Crean, Prof Kathy Harley, Prof Toh Chooi Gait, Dr Matthew Wong and Prof Seow Liang Lin herself.
