PROSTHODONTICS COMPETITION GUIDELINES
The Malaysian Dental Students’ Association (MDSA) will be conducting a hands-on clinical skills competition in collaboration with Malaysian Association for Prosthodontics (MAP) and 3M Oral Care Malaysia. The guidelines of the competition are as follows:
Limited to 1 participant from each university for 5th year dental students.
There will be a “Hands-on Competition” whereby participants will be demonstrating their skills by working on a dental training model in a simulation lab.
This year’s challenge will be ‘Single Posterior Crown Preparation’. Type of crown preparation will be announced on competition day.
Participants will have to make a temporary restoration after the crown preparation which will be included in the judging criteria.
Participants will be given a time frame of 2½ hours.
Participants are allowed to wear dental loupes during the competition (optional).
Each participant will be given a basic set of instruments which includes the following:
a. Mouth mirror
b. Explorer
c. Plastic instrument (Ash 49)
d. ExpressTM XT Soft Putty
e. Scalpel
f. Protemp
g. Crown bur kit
h. Vaseline/ teflon tape
i. High speed and slow speed handpieces
j. Polishing cup and pumice
k. Articulating film
Participation form should be sent to ndscsc.prostho@gmail.com and should be completed as instructed.
Only complete participation form sent in by 7th March 2020 will be considered.
MDSA reserves the right to disqualify any participation if the registration form is incomplete or not up to the required standards. Final decision will be at the discretion of the organizers.
