PAEDIATRIC DENTISTRY COMPETITION GUIDELINES

The Malaysian Dental Students’ Association (MDSA) will be conducting a hands-on clinical skills competition in collaboration with Malaysian Association of Paediatric Dentistry (MAPD) and 3M Oral Care Malaysia. The guidelines of the competition are as follows: 

1. Limited to 1 participant from each university for 5th year dental students.

2. There will be a “Hands-on Competition”, the participants will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their skills by working on a dental training model in a simulation lab. 

3. This year the challenge will be ‘Single Unit Composite Build-up using 3M Anterior Strip Crowns’

4. Participants will be given a time frame of 2 hours.

5. Each participant will be given a basic set of instruments which includes the following : 

   a. Mouth Mirror

   b. Explorer

   c. Plastic Instrument (Ash 49)

   d. Ball burnisher

   e. Composite (Filtek™ Z350XT Body)

   f. Single Bond Universal Adhesive

   g. Soflex™ Polishing XT Discs

   h. Soflex™ Polishing Spiral 

   i. Soflex™ Polishing Strip Fine-Superfine

   j. Elipar ™ Light Cure

   k. Mandrel

   l. Anterior strip crown x 4 sizes (participant to choose 1)

   m. Dental scissors 

   n. Mixed Dentition Typodont

6. Participation form should be sent to ndscsc.paeds@gmail.com and should be completed as instructed.

7. Only complete participation form sent in by 7th March 2020 will be considered.

8. MDSA reserves the right to disqualify any submissions should it be incomplete or not be up to the required standards. Decisions will be at the discretion of the organizers.
